Our hero Seif was 9 years old at the time. He was suffering from a complete blockage of the descending aorta, which was preventing blood flow to the lower parts of his body. Our doctors at Nile Hope developed a treatment plan for Seif that involved creating an opening in the membrane separating the upper and lower parts of the descending aorta, using catheterization. They also performed balloon dilation of the created opening and placed a covered stent inside the descending aorta — also via catheterization. Normally, in cases like Seif’s, the procedure requires open-heart surgery. However, thanks to the medical expertise of our team, it was successfully performed through catheterization in two stages, taking approximately two hours.
