our little butterfly Sedra, aged 3 years and 6 months, came to us suffering from a multi-hole atrial septal defect with small surrounding rims. Unfortunately, her case had been rejected by several medical centers due to the difficulty of implanting the device and the risk of it shifting from its intended position. At Nile Hope, our doctors decided to perform an exploratory catheterization while preparing the operating room as a backup in case open-heart surgery was required. Thankfully, the device was successfully implanted without affecting the function of the valves surrounding the defect. By the grace of God and the skill of our doctors, the hole was closed successfully — without the need for open-heart surgery.
