Summer Camp

Overview

Nile of Hope Hospital is organizing a summer camp for faculty of medicine students. In our camp, you will gain experience and develop knowledge about different fields in the medical field and the process of becoming a doctor. Since we are an integrated hospital you will get involved in many specializations by observing different things which will help you gain insight to decide your future specialization.

The summer camp regulations:

1- The duration of the summer camp is 108 hours equal 4.5 practical hours throughout 3 weeks which means 18 training days and 3 Holidays an average of 6 hours per day.
2- The observer will submit to the academy a reflection report or present a presentation on what he/she learned during the training period at the end of the summer camp.
3- Each observer will receive his/her logbook during the summer camp. This logbook must include details about what is being observed during the day.
4- An evaluation sheet from the supervisor will be included to measure the observer’s performance.

The summer camp program

The summer camp program will include the following:
-Basic and fundamental surgical skills (skill lap)
- Training on basic “hand skills “injection, dressing, cannula, ….
-Observing Surgeries: attend at least 2 operating lists with exposure to different subspecialties
-Hospital tour to review the different physical floors of the hospital
-Ward round: observing at least 2 clinical rounds
- Attending NOH Medical Council to learn how the cases are reviewed and the process of medical decision making.
-Infection control session
-NICU & PICU
-Radiology
-Research session (orientation workshop to research)
- Share in mental health programs in screening and discussion of cases
-Attend at least eight clinics with specialists or consultants during the month from the following clinics
-Observing Clinics:
- Colorectal
- Pelvic reconstruction
-General surgery
-Endocrine
-Genetics
-Urology
-Handskill: basic patient parameters
- Anaesthesia clinic
- Neurosurgery clinic
- Orthopaedic clinic
- Cardiology clinic
- Neonatology clinic
-Nephrology clinic
-Hepatology clinic

Outcome

This summer camp program offers medical students exposure to various aspects of hospital care. Students will observe surgeries, tour the hospital, attend ward rounds, and participate in skills workshops. They will learn about infection control, critical care, radiology, research, and mental health. The program also includes clinical rotations in various specialties like colorectal surgery, urology, cardiology, and more. Students will be guided by a clinical instructors and receive training in basic surgical skills and patient care. At the end each student will receive a certificate at the end of the summer camp

Eligibility criteria

- An observer has to be a student at the Faculty of medicine at any accredited university in Egypt.
Who can join?
- Undergraduate, graduates and interns.

Certificate Policy

  • -You have to attend at least 75% of the sessions.
    If you Failed to do so, this will result in failing the observership;
    therefore, you are not allowed to attend the rest of sessions.
  • -You are expected to arrive on time for all sessions.
  • -You are allowed to be late twice without penalty, after that you will be
    considered absent in the 3rd time, although you are allowed to attend the
    session.

Cancellation Policy

• Free cancellation: 15 days prior to the starting date
• 25% deduction: 7 days prior to the course or workshop
• 72 hours: There will be no cancellation but the participant will get a refund for another course or workshop within 1 year.
